This is our favorite Chambourcin vineyard located adjacent to an old burnpile on our estate. Before vineyards were planted on our farm it was an apple and peach orchard. The burnpile was essentially where old trees and trimmings were brought to be burned. Soil compositions at this particular vineyard site allow us to craft an extremely dark, jammy, concentrated wine that truly stands out from our other Chambourcin sites.
We speculate some of the carbon build up from the adjacent burnpile could have washed down into the soil over the years. Overall the vineyard is naturally low yielding and produces the most concentrated and complex Chambourcin fruit on the property.
